Requesting datasets

The National Library of Latvia (NLL) provides access to digitized and born-digital text collections for computerized analysis in research and study projects. You can request any digital data held in the NLL collections – for example, bibliographic and publishing data, text corpora, image datasets, web data collections, and more.

Latvian prose counter

The Latvian prose counter is an experimental demonstration website for text analysis capabilities, allowing users to examine various quantitative parameters of Latvian literary works from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as word usage frequency, sentence length statistics, distribution of parts of speech, the richness of authors' vocabulary, as well as data on the lifespan of the authors included in the corpus and the publication dates of their works. The "Research" section compiles information on literary studies that use digital methods.

Text corpora analysis platform

The NLL corpus analysis platform includes collections of digitized periodicals, books, and other texts created by the National Library of Latvia and other contributors, intended for research in Latvian language, literature, history, and society. The platform provides tools for studying word usage frequency and context. The volume of available data is variable, and the content is continuously updated in response to researchers' needs.
